DESIGN THINKING METHODOLOGIES
The design thinking methodologies used in this project were empathize, ideate, prototype, define, test and revise.
Empathize means to think of specific examples where the product could be used (ie. more comfortable handles for someone with arthritis) and think of solutions to that problem. This step is involved in the creation of a product by thinking of a main idea to focus on and design your product around.
Ideate is thinking of products or solutions that can solve your essential question and your empathized problem. This step is involved in product production by thinking of as many ideas as you can, and how they would work in relation to your empathized idea.
Prototyping is the process of creating models of your ideas, to later narrow down to one everyone likes. This step is important in creating a product because this is the step where the product really begins to take shape and form to your ideas.
Defining is the process where you narrow down the prototypes you've made in the prototyping phase. This step is important because it takes the prototypes you've made in the prototyping phase and narrow them down into what you really envisioned for the product to be.
Testing is the process after you've narrowed down your prototypes to two or three models. You use this step to test the effectiveness of different models and shapes of your product to find which one fits your original idea the most.
Revision is the process where you take the final prototype you've chosen for your product and revise it. Some revisions may be design changes, functionality changes, or anything you think should be changed and incorporated into the final product. This step is very important in the product creation process because it is the final phase that you have control over before the product goes into production.
