What if we asked little children to identify the health of their everyday food products? For our video we want to start by showing children various food items from fast food places such as Mcdonalds, taco bell, jack in the box, etc. and ask if they think they are healthy. We are going to have a table of junk food and healthy foods all together. We’ll ask the kids to bring the food that they think is healthy to a table closer to the camera. We won’t tell them that some of those foods are very unhealthy and see what their opinions on the food are. We want to end with a final message about the effects of fast food advertising on children. Our video style is going to be dramatic and will include interviews and an observation period of the kids’ impressions. We also wanted to use a technique similar to The “Scared is Scared” video. We will have voice over of the kids talking about what they think about fast food, their favorite foods, what they think will happen after eating too much of this food over a long period of time, etc. While the voiceover is playing, on the screen facts about childhood addiction, childhood obesity, diabetes, and other health risk statistics will be displayed. The scene is going to be very gloomy to show the future if people’s eating habits don’t change. We plan for the video be at least 3 minutes long and at most 6 minutes long. We are trying to model this video after the California anti-smoking commercials, which we think are very influential and convey a strong message.
